I
Man suffer because of ignorance, egoism, attachment, aversion, clinging to life. How to go out of suffering, to find happiness in life ?
Artha
, acquisition of wealth in order to secure and to progress towards higher pursuit of life, including, Love, moral, protect the rare animal, save the extinct animal, non governmental organization. Purpose and mean of life. Security in life is found so man look for enjoyment , pleasure , then comes kama.
kama
Enjoyment of pleasure of life Eating, dancing, good health,, acquisition of wealth in order to progress towards higher pursuit of life, including, wealth accumulation, horner, knowledge, power.
Dharma
To be secure for next life, man has belief on karma, on next birth. So he need to prepare in this life. The careful observation of one ethical, social, intellectual and religious duties in daily life.
Science of duty
Limitation of the above three goals
pain There is no gain without the corresponding loss.In spite of maintenance, they are all going to be lost because none of the things is permanent. Therefore, artha is lost, kama is lost, dharma or punyam is also exhausted.
Disatisfaction As a child, I thought I will be satisfied when I become a young man. As a young man I thought everything will be fine once I get married. Once married, I feel that life with children will be wonderful. Afterwards we want the children to get settled in life. Thus, this goes on and on. The satisfaction I am waiting for never comes.
Dependence on the external factor, Never complete fulfillment.Every action leads to dependence, so moksa is the proper goal to independence.
Moksa
Liberation, freedom from the bondage of worldly pleasures, complete fulfillment in life. while , kama, dhama, artha man cannot find such a complete fulfillment. Power, knowledge, wealth and pleasure are merely passing phases . Note that God put man in hard condition ( joy, sorrow, attachment, aversions in order to live through emotional upheavals and intellectual weaknesses to help us to overcome these obstacles and guide us to freedom. Self realization, realize his true nature, I am Sat Chit Ananda , Infinite Existence+ consciousness+ bliss. To experience the SEER, SUBJECT. The ABSOLUTE TRUTH.Non duality CHANGELESS. Go to the seer , the center, I . Union with God within, yoga. Body ,mind, consciousness are in communion with soul. ATMAN.
Discovering happiness in myself, discovering security in myself is called moksa. What will happen because of this self discovery? I will no longer depend upon external factors. If I do not depend upon them I need not bother about acquiring them. If they come to me, let them come. If they do not, I don't need them. I do not depend on anything, any person, or any situation. Their arrival is fine; their departure is also fine. This inner freedom is called moksa .
Travel to seek knowledge
Seek within, where can I find security, happiness ? I read the scripture, Who am I ? The problem is I am ignorance, self ignorance I do not know who I am . ex rope and snake, 10 friends, father and son to see the movie,
How to study myself , study the subject , the seer.?
I read the scripture with the help of GURU. Student and guru should be qualified, go alongwith each other. I should have faith on scripture and teacher.
Knowledge should be direct , how to know myself ? Therefore we can conclude that words can give direct knowledge when the object of knowledge is already experienced in front. Teacher tell me, I and him go along and experience the true nature inside me. Teacher leads me to the INDEPENDENCE, WALK BY MYSELF.
Preyas
Pleasures that are sense-bound and prone to mutation come under the category of preyas. The majority of mankind are seekers of preyas. But there are a rare few who aspire for the transcendental. Scriptures describe this transcendental experience as the sreyas.
Why complete fulfillment in life? Because , Happiness is inside of man not outside of man.1)Example of desiring to get a new car, Happiness appears inside of human being when his desire is dropped down completely, 2) In deep sleep, man has no object at all, he is only with the subject alone, he is at Sat Chit ananda, where Bliss is shining from the inside. Truth, Consciousness, Bliss.
.3) Man should live above the 3 gunas ( sattva, rajas, tamas )
4) Chariot : owner ( consciousness), chariotee ( intellect), បង្ហៀ (mind), horse (senses), chariot (body), road ( destiny)
5)ស្រទាប់៥យ៉ាង 5 sheaths of man. physical+ prana+ subtle( intellect, ego, mind ) + causal + true nature.
6) 4 states, waking, dreaming, deep sleep, turya. Experience , see flower Waking, close eyes see flower in the mind dreaming, take the flower out, deep sleep. ( be only with the subject).
7) Subject and object; seer and seen , Ramana Moharishi and his devotee. រឿងទៅរកគ្រូសមាធិជួយ ចិន។ រឿងជនជាតិអាមេរិករកego himself. Experience , eyes see+ mind sees + the true I sees ( separation I am not this body, I am not this mind, I am the pure consciousness.
Man's life is divided into 4 stages of development , youth student, ordinary householder, elderly who learn non attachment. man detaches from the world thoughts and attaches to God, union with his true nature.
3 karmas, dormant karma, active karma, potential karma. All meditation lead you to clean all karma, and set you free.
II Consciousness or your true nature cannot be seen , be expressed, but it can be experience :
1) To know, I am aware right now.
2) samadhi
3) see between the 2 thoughts
4) drop everything, just I am,
5) មើលផ្កា waking, dreaming, deep sleep experience of SUBJECT
6) Who I am -sit/ Who is sitting ?/ I am sitting/ Who am I ? keep watching inside.
7) Suject + object , seer + seen, looking for ego, or i or suffering inside
8) surrender to God.
9) eyes sees, mind sees eyes, I ( true nature ) see mind, I is my true nature.
10) understanding, separate between Absolute truth and relative truth.
III 4 paths to freedoms and happiness
The four paths of Yoga: There are four traditional schools of Yoga, and these are: Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Karma Yoga, and Raja Yoga. While a Yogi or Yogini may focus exclusively on one of these approaches to Yoga, that is quite uncommon. For the vast majority of practitioners of Yoga, a blending of the four traditional types of Yoga is most appropriate. One follows his or her own predisposition in balancing these different forms of Yoga. Coming inner world ( ordinary men always goes to the outside world ).
IVJnana Yoga: Jnana Yoga is the path of knowledge, wisdom, introspection and contemplation. It involves deep exploration of the nature our being by systematically exploring and setting aside false identities.1) understanding the 3 levels of human being, gross body, subtle body, causal body, my true nature. 2) study the 3 states which man passes through , waking state, dreaming state, deep sleep and turya ,the 4 states.Bhakti Yoga: Bhakti Yoga is the path of devotion, emotion, love, compassion, and service to God and others. All actions are done in the context of remembering the Divine. ONENESS, NON-DUALITY .Karma Yoga: Karma Yoga is the path of action, service to others, mindfulness, and remembering the levels of our being while fulfilling our actions or karma in the world.Raja Yoga: Raja Yoga is a comprehensive method that emphasizes meditation, while encompassing the whole of Yoga. It directly deals with the encountering and transcending thoughts of the mind.
Eight Limbs or Steps
While ashta means eight and anga means limb, we can say that these are steps as much as limbs. They are limbs in the sense that they all belong to the same body of teachings and each is essential, but they are steps in the sense that there is logical order to them and to how they must be approached.
We will first list them with a translation and then define them:
- Yama - the five restraints or the "don'ts"
- Ahimsa - Non-violence
- Satya - Truthfulness
- Brahmacharya - Control of the senses and celibacy
- Asteya - Non-stealing
- Aparigraha - Non-covetousness and non-acceptance of gifts, accept what one has. Simple life
- Niyama - the five observances or the "do's"
- Saucha - Purity, cleanliness, inside and outside of this body
- Santosha - Contentment
- Tapas - Austerity
- Swadhyaya - Self-study, study of scriptures
- Ishwara Pranidhana - Surrender to God's will
- Asana - Steady posture
- Pranayama - Control of prana or life force, breath control means control mind.
- Pratyahara - Withdrawal of the senses, bring awareness inwards on the object of meditation.
- Dharana - Concentration, Concentration. One-pointedness. The meditator is fully focused on the object of concentration, his mind as still as the flame of a lamp in a windless room. When this state is maintained long enough, it will lead to dhyana.
- Dhyana - Meditation Dhyana is translated as meditation. It is a natural flow of thought or consciousness between the meditator and the object of meditation. It is a very joyous state and is compared to the flow of oil from one vessel to the next. Very natural and effortless. In dhyana there is still duality of consciousness which is the feeling of separation between the meditator and the object of meditation. When maintained long enough this state will lead to the highest rung of the ladder of ashtanga yoga which is samadhi.
- Samadhi - Super-conscious state, As described by Swami Sivananda this is "The state of consciousness where Absoluteness is experienced attended with all-knowledge and joy; Oneness; here the mind becomes identified with the object of meditation; the meditator and the meditated, thinker and thought become one in perfect absorption of the mind." No more duality seer and seen are the same, meditator and breath are one.Much practice is necessary to attain this stage. Regular (daily practice) of all these eight limbs is absolutely necessary.
V
Two birds in one tree, one bird, is just aware, just watches, just sees and another bird is moving, eating , drinking. he got trapped in the net of life.. what is the first bird is doing ? he reaches samadhi, live in the moment, live as the true nature, he is free from time, place, space.
There are two kinds of Samadhi: Wher man reach to his true nature, Sat Chit ananda. Man frees himself from ego, free from the qualities of the nature called GUNAS ,there are three of them, Sattva, raja, tamas , transcending the gunas. free from worldly pleasure, afflictions,(physical, psychological, intellectual, enviremental)
1 Sabija or Samprajnata Samadhi is attained by deliberate effort, using for concentration an object or idea as a seed. Example Vipassana Meditation, breath concentration and many other meditation methods.Raja Yoga 8 limbs of Yoga
2 Nirbija Samadhi is without seed or support . For example Bakti yoga, Surrendering to God, Loving God, Serving God. Karma Yoga, selfless service. Jnana Yoga, by studying and understanding atman, or inner space. How to be with the true nature ? realize the seer, the watcher, the inner witnessing, Knowing who I am, Ramana Moharishi.
